By providing real-time feedback and actionable insights, Elements of Success (EoS) empowers students to take control of their educational journey and achieve their goals. EoS is an easy-to-understand, visual format that helps them better understand their current course performance and ways they can improve or maintain their grade.
OTLT and Administrative Information System recently redesigned the setup wizard to make it easier than ever to integrate Elements of Success into courses. With just a few simple steps in ICON, instructors can add and activate EoS.
Impact on Learning
The benefits of using EoS are clear. In fall 2024, students who regularly checked their EoS dashboard averaged almost half a grade point higher than their peers who did not. What students are saying about EoS:

EoS Teaching Best Practices
To maximize the impact of EoS, here are a few tips:
Remind students to frequently check their EoS dashboard to stay informed about their progress and identify areas for improvement.
Use formative assessments (small assignments like homework or quizzes) and summative assessments (larger assignments like tests or papers).
Use ICON gradebook assignment groups, and update it frequently to provide a more comprehensive view of student performance.
