The Learning Spaces Technology (LST) team spent the summer updating and improving technology in many university learning spaces, completing the largest single classroom refresh in that team’s history.
This summer’s refresh project focused primarily on improving the accessibly of classroom technology installations in smaller conference rooms.
Highlights of the classroom refresh project:
- 60 classrooms in Schaeffer Hall, Van Allen Hall, North Hall, and other buildings received new height-adjustable, accessible teaching stations with dual monitors, touch-screen interfaces, and updated electronics.
- Designed based upon multiple feedback sessions with faculty, these stations will allow instructors to adjust the work surface to a preferred height, allowing the use of a variety of available peripherals, including the new tablet touch screen with ease.
- A/V control interfaces and backend electronics were refreshed, improving overall system reliability and serviceability.
- These refreshed rooms also feature a new USB-C display connection for modern laptops, which provides laptop charging capabilities on compatible devices.
- A new classroom clock synchronization system was installed, addressing performance issues with the previous technology.
